Mock Draft Countdown: Carolina Panthers Round 1

With only 6 hours left until the NFL Draft, it is time to make the first round selection for the Carolina Panthers.

With the 28th pick in the 2014 NFL Draft the Carolina Panthers…

***Trade their pick to the Houston Texans: Teddy Bridgewater, QB, Louisville***

With the 33rd pick in the 2014 NFL Draft the Carolina Panthers select…

Joel Bitonio, OT, Nevada

The Panthers will get offers and will trade away their 28th pick to the Houston Texans, who want to move up into the first round to get their guy Teddy Bridgewater. Moving back will allow them to have the number one pick in the second round and get their guy they wanted all along. Head Coach Ron Rivera “came away impressed” after visiting Nevada OL Joel Bitonio. Anytime a coach goes out of his way to visit a prospect it definitely raises an eyebrow. An under-the-radar kind of guy who has good feet and can protect Cam Newton’s blind side. For a guy under-sized, watching Bitonio go up against UCLA’s OLB Anthony Barr, a top outside linebacker prospect in the draft, he gets you excited. Keeping Barr off the quarterback and basically containing him the whole game is exactly what Bitonio did. Bitonio could definitely be the Panthers pick at 33, if the Seattle Seahawks don’t pick him to be the last guy taken in the first round.
