Most fans have seen enough mock drafts to last a life time. With the extended week before the draft it gives everyone extra time to speculate, deliver smoke screens, and to finalize the draft boards. We are only a days away from the 2014 NFL Draft, and I would like to present my next pick for the Carolina Panthers in the second round. Like last year, the Panthers will take the same position back-to-back picks, as they will take wide receivers in the second and third round.
With the 60th pick in the 2014 NFL Draft the Carolina Panthers select…
Davante Adams, WR, Fresno State
Davante Adams became Derek Carr’s favorite target at Fresno State. He led the FBS with 131 receptions, finished second in receiving yards with 1719 yards, and totaled 38 touchdowns over the last two seasons. Adams is a receiver that can coral passes in down the sideline and catch the ball underneath. He definitely could help the Panthers stretch the ball down the field vertically and make the tough contested end zone catches. He wowed evaluators at the combine, as he had the highest vertical of all receivers, recording a 39.5 inch vertical. The Panthers who are interested in Adams, sent wide receivers coach Ricky Proehl down to California to privately work him out. Don’t be surprised if he is still there in the second round for the Panthers to scoop up, if they haven’t taken a wide receiver yet.
