A week after getting their second win of the season, Carolina host the Denver Broncos. Denver is working on a 5-3 season, but have been getting better each week as Peyton Manning gets more and more comfortable with this offense. It is a scary thought to have Peyton back in the league and playing just as well as always. Unfortunately, I don’t have the good feeling going into this one that I had with the Washington. Denver has won 3 straight, scoring over 30 points in each contest. They have 3 losses on the season, but to some great teams in New England, Houston, and Atlanta. Carolina isn’t quite at the level.
What we should look for in this game is what players do play well. Denver is well balanced team with a great offense and a good defense. They run the ball well, and have one of the better passing attacks in the league. The defense does equally well stopping the pass and the run. They are basically good across the board. Carolina doesn’t have a chance this season, so finding the assets that are on this team for next year is what they need to do.
If the Panthers do find a way to win this game, that will give them a ton of momentum heading into the second half of the season. It is nearly impossible for them to make the postseason, but at least it wouldn’t seem like they are taking a step backwards. There should be some major changes this offseason, but the better they play in the second half, the less changes will have to be made.
