Jags vs Panthers Recap

Cam Newton now has a tick on the stat sheet in the most important column. Wins. Newton got his 1st win as an NFL QB this week 16-10 over the lowly Jaguars. Newton’s stats were considerable more human this week, throwing for 158 yards and a TD with no picks. Im sure he will trade 400 yard games for wins any day. Newton has shown improvement each week and is looking to be a great pick for the Panthers. Good times are ahead for this Carolina team.

On defense Carolina smothered Jacksonville’s anemic offense, allowing 257 of total offense, and getting an early safety as Greg Hardy crashed through the line and sacked Jags QB Blaine Gabbert. They kept Jacksonville off the field by stopping them on 3rd down 11 out of 14 tries. This shouldn’t be lauded as a tough accomplishment, as the Jags offense was being led by a 1st timer in Gabbert, and aren’t exactly the Pats anyway. Carolina didn’t allow the Jags into their Red Zone at all, with the only Jacksonville TD coming from a 36 yard pass by Gabbert to WR Mike Thomas. Next week Cam and the Panthers  go up against the Bears at Soldier Field in Chicago. This will be a tough matchup. Check back for my game preview later in the week.
